| Bowmore 12
The heart of the Bowmore range, the 12 year old exhibits some beautiful coastal notes with a gentle peat, it is the balance that the floral element presents that makes this a great entry bottling for Bowmore. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt Palate: Lovely and rounded, honeyed even, initially. Vanilla, perfumed smoke and coastal elements develop. Dark Peat. Blossom, oily sweetness. Finish: Smoky and long. Sea spray, dry grass, a touch of ash and citrus. Overall: Classic stuff and the heart of the Bowmore range. Smoky, fruity, coastal, delicious. Type : Single Malt Whisky |

| The Whiskey:
The lion’s share of this blend — 45 percent — comes from a single grain whisky aged in ex-bourbon from Cameronbridge Distillery. 22 percent is a single malt aged in ex-bourbon that comes from Linkwood Distillery. The rest is a mix of French oak and ex-bourbon single malts and blended malts from the Highlands, Clyneilish, Linkwood, and Balmenach. Those whiskies are vatted and then proofed down before bottling. Tasting Notes: This opens with a very clear and concise note of apple candy with a hint of salted caramel ice cream cut with a touch of eggnog spices. There’s a nice maltiness that leans into a creamy vanilla, soft holiday spice mix, butter toffee, and a hint of milk chocolate near the end. The finish is warming with a whisper of tobacco next to woody apple, spice candies (maybe ginger), and a final hint of cocoa and caramel. Country : Portugal |

COLOUR: Golden amber. When you at first open the bottle, sherry and toffee notes float up. The Ballantine’s 17yo makes long thick oily fingers in the glass. NOSE: After the initial sherry sweetness, the nose brings notes of tropical fruit, pineapple and banana. There are hints of oak and cereal at the back. The nose is complex, luxurious and creamy. PALATE: The Ballantine’s 17yo is incredibly smooth. The palate brings notes of creamy oak and spice. There are hints of vanilla sweetness balanced with little bits of smoke. It is a complex whisky that reminds us of liquid gold. Drinking this Ballantine’s 17yo is an amazing experience. FINISH: Long and lingering with fruit and hints of sweetness, oak and spice at the end. This blended whisky is impressive. |
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Palate: Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Finish: Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
Overall: Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.
