COLOUR: Golden amber. When you at first open the bottle, sherry and toffee notes float up. The Ballantine’s 17yo makes long thick oily fingers in the glass. NOSE: After the initial sherry sweetness, the nose brings notes of tropical fruit, pineapple and banana. There are hints of oak and cereal at the back. The nose is complex, luxurious and creamy. PALATE: The Ballantine’s 17yo is incredibly smooth. The palate brings notes of creamy oak and spice. There are hints of vanilla sweetness balanced with little bits of smoke. It is a complex whisky that reminds us of liquid gold. Drinking this Ballantine’s 17yo is an amazing experience. | The iconic signature expression from Grand Marnier, Cordon Rouge is a superb orange liqueur made with fine Cognac sourced from the region’s various crus, flavoured with the bitter essence of wild oranges. The blend is also matured in large oak vats for six months before it’s bottled, allowing the liquid the marry. It was created in 1880, and Cordon Rouge literally translates to ‘red ribbon’, so you can easily identify your favourite dumpy bottle. A timeless staple for the home bar.Type : Liqueur ABV : 40% Region : FRANCE |

| One of the world’s most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. Famous Grouse is a very nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896, and would go on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
Nose: A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley. Palate: Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity. Finish: A slightly sweet, malty finish. Overall: A very malty, biscuity blend. It’s easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland! Type : Whisky |
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Palate: Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Finish: Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
Overall: Definitely meets the criteria of pairing with a ‘BIG’ cigar.
