Winemaker Notes
Edizione Cinque Autoctoni is aged 13 months in barriques. Very deep garnet, with an extremely intense and persistent bouquet reminiscent of cherries and plums, ripe currant, tobacco, and toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is luscious, round and full-bodied, rich in sweet tannins, velvet-textured and extremely persistent, with a long finish of spices, vanilla, and chocolate. Edizione Cinque Autoctoni is considered to be a non-vintagee wine because the grapes are sourced from two region. As such, the winery releases this wine in Editions or Edizione.
Pairs well with red meat and game dishes with rich sauces. Excellent as a meditation wine.
Blend: 33% Montepulciano, 25% Sangiovese, 5% Malvasia Nera, 30% Primitivo, and 7% Negroamaro.
Critical Acclaim
Points 90 Wine Enthusiast
This red crosses regional boundaries to blend together five Italian grapes: Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. Notes of coffee and cocoa ride over a brooding, dark core of blackberries on the nose. The palate is luscious yet structured, with a ripe blackberry coulis flavor surrounded by more oak spices.

Médoc wines tend to be ruby in color, balanced and well-rounded on the palate with notes of cassis, cherries and earth, with firm tannins.
While most Bordeaux wines require aging, those labeled simply ‘Médoc’ tend to be lighter in style and more approachable in their youth. Grown on gravel rich soils in the Left Bank of Bordeaux, wines from the Médoc are predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blends, but sometimes see the addition of Petit Verdot and Malbec. |
Tasting note:
This dark, dense, flavorful Cabernet Sauvignon fills the senses with aromas of black cherry, blackberry and peppercorn. Smooth tannins and balanced acidity allow the flavors of black fruit compote, clove and spice, to come through with a lingering finish.
